LAMAVE LAUNCHES IMPACT MEDIA CAMPAIGN WITH FIRST DOCUMENTARY SCREENING AT PALAWAN STATE UNIVERSITY

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, University students and faculty members were among the audience of the first screening of “IYO ANG DAGAT” (The Sea is Yours), a documentary film that looks at the relationship between people and sharks in Palawan, Philippines.

The film tells the stories of people interacting with sharks and rays in their everyday lives. Centered around the Sulu Sea the film follows fishermen, marine park rangers, enforcement officers, business owners and conservationists.

The project, which received support from the Save Our Seas Foundation was made possible thanks to the trust and support of our partners and stakeholders, including but not limited to, the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD), Tubbataha Management Office, WWF-PH, the Local Government Unit of Cagayancillo. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work alongside stakeholders to bring these stories to the screen. The film has been rated PG by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

IMPACT MEDIA CAMPAIGN

The film is a central component of an impact campaign which will first target communities in Palawan living alongside sharks and rays as well as university students in Palawan. The campaign will then expand to host further screening events. Updates will be shared on our social media platforms.

The first screening of the campaign was hosted at Palawan State University (PSU); the audience included students from Marine Biology, Environmental Sciences, Criminology and Medical Biology. Thank you to University Staff, Students, and the University Student Government for their support in organizing this event.
