CONDUCTING RESEARCH

Applying science-based solutions to conservation challenges

We APPLY new technology to answer key conservation questions

We COLLECT data to identify endangered species and build population databases:

>1950 whale sharks

>1950 whale sharks

>500 manta rays

>500 manta rays

>1000 turtles

>1000 turtles

We USE research to enhance policy to protect the marine environment

We INTEGRATE science into management creating management tools based on the results of our research

We EXPLORE new methods to study manta rays, whale sharks, sharks and turtles

We DEPLOY cameras to investigate deep water habitats for sharks

We TAG marine megafauna to learn about their ranges and habitat use and to identify key movement corridors

We EMPLOY minimally invasive techniques to minimize disturbance on threatened species

We FOCUS on marine megafauna as umbrella species to protect the wider marine environment

INVESTING IN PEOPLE

Ensuring a legacy through the transfer of skills for long term impact on the ground

We DEVELOP future leaders in marine conservation

We FOSTER community centred initiatives

We TRAIN community members to respond to stranded marine animals

We SUPPORT the passion and drive of emerging conservationists

We CREATE opportunities for growth in the field of conservation

We CONNECT people and the marine environment

We BUILD relationships and networks

We ENGAGE the public through citizen science

ADVANCING KNOWLEDGE

Securing a future for marine megafauna by advancing the knowledge of the people that can protect them

We ENGAGE stakeholders and governments in research work

We EDUCATE communities on their marine resources

We PRODUCE media that activates behaviour change

WE COMMUNICATE science to the wider public

We DEVELOP the skills of young adults in marine conservation

We TRAIN local scholars in research methods

We RECOMMEND best practices

We SHARE research findings with policy makers

We PARTICIPATE in national and international conferences
