NEWS

All LAMAVE team members are safe after #TyphoonOdette (Rai).

Puerto Princesa City, Palawan

The team in Puerto Princesa City Palawan have just received access to communications through SMART (Wed 22 Dec). Globe is still down, and we have no news when it will be back. We are fortunate to have access to power and water in the last 2 days, though many parts of the city are still without. The city is running, though some amenities are still down. Many trees came down along with power lines. Some houses were badly damaged by trees, and roofs were lost, but many establishments are ok and rebuilding efforts are underway. We have no structural damage. We are still hearing news from other areas in Palawan. It sounds like Roxas, Port Barton were severely hit and will need relief effort. Anyone looking for news from the province should follow  “Palawan Odette Recovery” Facebook group

Cebu city team members

Team members in Cebu City are safe and are assessing the damage and access to amenities. All other members in different provinces are safe and well.

Next steps

Now that we have communications back, we will be assessing what LAMAVE can do to help and in what capacity. Many of our stakeholder communities across the Visayas (Southern Leyte, Bohol, Palawan, Cebu…) are in a state of calamity and are our main concern. We will update again shortly with a plan and how you can support them.

Thank you to everyone that has expressed their concern and willingness to help.

The Philippines needs you pu more than ever.
