Palawan Otter Project

Palawan Otter Project

Are you interested in otter conservation? We are looking for otter-loving volunteers to help with our population assessment of the Asian Small-claw otter in Palawan. Classified as a “biodiversity hotspot” and home to almost 25% of all the animal species that live in the Philippines, Palawan really is an ideal place for wildlife enthusiasts to volunteer.

The project will involve surveying important otter habitats in Puerto Princesa (Palawan) to enable us to assess the population status of the Small-claw otters.

The surveys conducted during your stay may vary depending on our current research priorities. Generally, your obligations as a volunteer will include:

  • Preparing equipment and materials for fieldwork.
  • Surveying transect areas looking for signs of otters
